SHIFT PRODUCTION MANAGER – CONSERVATORY OUTLET

Fantastic opportunity to work for a highly successful forward-thinking business. Conservatory Outlet, a market leader in the manufacturing of high quality window, door, solid roof and living space, have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Production Manager to join the management team.

Conservatory Outlet supply to a retail network of 24 installation companies that operate across the UK from the North of Scotland to the Isle of Wight.

You will report directly to our Head of Production and be accountable for the continual improvement of efficiencies and for the development of processes. You will be given autonomy to successfully initiate change by providing clear and supportive leadership. Your energy, drive and commitment will inspire your team to achieve and exceed demanding KPI targets, enabling you to focus on delivering real long-term results.

Forward thinking and practical, you will be skilled in building strong working partnerships both internally and externally. With a progressive view towards production excellence and possess a proven track record of production management in a fast-moving home improvement manufacturing environment.  A strong quality focus, results-orientated with a passionate, positive, can do attitude and the robustness and resilience to drive change forward.

Role Responsibilities

  • To ensure that the operating systems, people and procedures deliver quality product in an efficient, cost effective and timely manner;
  • To work closely with the management team and supervisors /team leaders to plan, set targets, and ensure finished products meet quality standards and are met on time and in full;
  • To provide strong leadership and direction and work with the leadership team to improve people capability to achieve an empowered, skilled and engaged team;
  • To drive efficiency and to identify, agree and implement improvements in internal processes in order to improve service delivery, cost effectiveness and customer expectations;
  • To manage the department in line with the department plan; leading the department in the delivery of agreed goals and ensuring staff are engaged and work efficiently to deliver the plan;
  • To develop excellent working relationships with external and internal stakeholders including customers, suppliers, dealers and other departments;
  • To train and coordinate the training of CI tools and techniques;
  • To establish a strong culture of operational standards as a foundation for continuous improvement

Person Attributes

  • Previous experience of the manufacturing industry running a fast-moving manufacturing facility with window industry experience would be an advantage;
  • Experience of managing a team and the ability to demonstrate providing strong leadership and direction;
  • The ability to motivate others, demonstrating a ‘can do’ attitude with a focus on making things happen
  • Team orientated with the ability to motivate and lead by example and demonstrate hands on, result driven and can-do approach;
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to demonstrate effective time management and prioritise tasks;
  • Excellent product knowledge with the ability to keep up to date with developments within the industry with technical capability and the understanding of the theory of manufacturing processes;
  • Excellent attention to detail, the ability to prioritise with a willingness to undertake further training with the capability to implement learning into your daily work;
  • A good standard of education with some knowledge of lean manufacturing;
  • The ability to work on a two-shift system and offer a flexible approach.
