FENSA CELEBRATES SWEET 16TH BIRTHDAY

FENSA staff celebrated in style as the industry’s leading Competent Person Scheme kicked off its 16th anniversary celebrations at its London offices.

FENSA, the largest and longest established Competent Person Scheme in the replacement window and door industry, this year celebrates 16 years of serving installers and homeowners. The GGF Group company has been operating since April 2002.

Chris Beedel, Director of Membership, FENSA, was delighted to celebrate the company’s sixteenth anniversary:

“It’s a fantastic testament to the thousands of installers who choose the FENSA brand to represent trust and quality installations to consumers. We strive to provide the best customer service to our members and homeowners and will continue to do so.”

Set up by the Glass and Glazing Federation, FENSA commenced operations following a request from Government to regulate the market for replacement doors and windows in England and Wales. Since coming on the scene as the original Competent Person Scheme, it has become the largest in the sector with almost 6000 companies self-certifying their compliance under the Building Regulations without the requirement for additional inspections from Local Authority Building Control, saving homeowners time and expense.

Chris Beedel continued: “FENSA is proud of its status as the largest and longest serving Competent Person Scheme in the industry. It is also one of the most trusted brands in glazing. Over 1000 companies who started using FENSA in 2002 are still using FENSA today and our average member retention rate is around 99% each year.”

The loyalty shown by FENSA Members likely springs in part from the company’s commitment to different initiatives (such as the Installer of the Year at the G-Awards and The Master Fitter Challenge at the FIT Show) and more recently its investment in business support tools such as the FENSA Knowledge Hub which provides market information to installers on their installation work, compliance and customer service.

In addition, FENSA has developed business partnerships that benefit its membership such as the agreement with the British Fenestration Rating Council to provide free window energy ratings to FENSA members.

Another major milestone approaches

Since 2002, FENSA has issued more than 12 million homeowner certificates and is now approaching the 13 millionth installation to be registered through its scheme. Plans are afoot to reward and celebrate the homeowner and installer of the 13 millionth installation and more will be revealed about this in the coming months.

For Chris Beedel, the 13 millionth installation will represent a great achievement:

“Given that there are 23.5 million households in England and Wales, reaching 13 million registrations will mean at least half of all those households have used a FENSA Member to install their windows and doors. This shows not only that FENSA Members are trustworthy professional companies but also that homeowners recognise the value in using a FENSA Member.”
