NOCTURNAL NEWVIEW EXCELS ON COMPLEX OXFORD INSTALLATION

How do you complete world-class installation work at one of the country’s busiest transport hubs without causing major disruption?

In short – very quickly and very carefully, as commercial glazing experts Newview Homes ably demonstrated during an ambitious installation at Oxford Railway Station.

Nearly eight million people got the train to or from Oxford in 2018 – an average of almost 22,000 every day – and when station managers decided they needed high-performance glass fitted to a crucial stairwell and gantry bridge, they came to Newview with a challenging request.

Five huge toughened and laminated glass units, each weighing almost 100kg, had to be transported to and installed at the site – a big enough task in of itself.

But there was a catch. The work would have to be carried out between midnight and 4am to keep disruption to an absolute minimum – and if it wasn’t done by 6am, the company would be liable to eye-watering penalties of £30,000 every minute.

Fortunately, Newview are one of the country’s most experienced commercial installers, and take these sorts of demanding and highly complex projects in their stride.

An elite team of Newview installation experts used special machinery to quickly but carefully move the bronze-tinted units into position – knowing full well that one slip could cost thousands of pounds.

But thanks to their consummate skill and professionalism, it went without a hitch, the work was completed with time to spare, and the station re-opened as normal at 6am.

“This is exactly the kind of project that Newview does best,” explains Sales Director Duncan Wietscher.

“After 15 years of working with some of the biggest names in British transport and construction, we excel at taking on complex briefs, meeting strict deadlines, and carrying out world-class installations in very challenging conditions.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank our amazing installers for their incredible professionalism, and the staff and management at Oxford Railway Station for all their support and co-operation.

“If you’ve got a glazing project that other companies can’t handle, talk to Newview. We look forward to hearing from you!”
