TUFFX MAKES A MINDFUL HAULAGE EXPANSION

When your day to day business involves transporting toughened glass around the country, it’s only sensical that your vehicles are representative of the premium quality inside. To that end, glass giant TuffX has expanded its fleet by an impressive 78 tonnes in an anticipatory move to continue providing an unrivalled service to customers.

Complementing an existing fleet of 26 vehicles, the eight new additions include some of the biggest names in haulage: four Iveco 7.5-ton sleeper cabs, two MAN 12-ton sleeper cabs and two Mercedes 12-ton sleeper cabs. Each compliant with the latest low emissions zone requirements, the purchases have been made in recent months.

TuffX Managing Director Graham Price describes the choice of vehicles as ‘strategically deliberate’:

“We chose to gradually increase the size of the fleet in line with forecasted sales growth, taking into consideration the dimensions of our most popular products, frequency of deliveries and geographical location. Smaller lorries are suitable for customers in rural areas where weight or width restrictions might apply. Using larger vehicles enables us to make deliveries more economically, spend less time on the roads and ultimately, do our part to help protect the environment. The UK’s CO2 emissions fell for the sixth consecutive year in 2018, and it is decisions like ours which we feel, support this decline. We have a duty to be responsible with our vehicle choices just as much as we have one to maintain optimal service to our customers.”

The lorries will be driven by new, and current multi drop drivers, all of whom are subject to TuffX’s in house training before taking to the roads. Graham added:

“The moment our vehicles leave site, they represent the TuffX brand. How they are driven and how they look reflects hugely on us as a business. Similarly, the safety and comfort of our staff is paramount; the interior of the cabs must be suitable for the long distances our drivers cover.”
