Entrepreneur and mentor Andrew Scott, founder and MD of Purplex Marketing, has delivered his first TEDx Talk in Bristol.
Entitled Purpose: The Power to Rise Again, the talk explored how purpose, planning and execution can help businesses overcome setbacks and achieve meaningful growth.
Andrew shared his experience of growing up in Troubles-era Belfast, then later rebuilding his life and business after losing everything, including his company, home and financial security. Drawing on these lessons, he emphasised how businesses in any sector can use clear strategy and focused action to turn challenges into opportunity. The speech is set for global broadcast on the TED platform next March.
Reflecting on the talk, Andrew said, “Stepping onto that stage was a hell of an experience. TED Talks are highly regulated and I had rehearsed for four weeks to memorise every line. It is one in a million to get this chance and I am proud to have shared the message of how purpose can transform both life and business.”
For businesses in construction and glazing, Andrew’s story shows that even when things feel overwhelming, having a clear purpose and a practical plan makes all the difference. Focusing on what really matters, taking small consistent steps and seeing them through can help teams get past challenges, deliver better results and keep moving forward.
Through his PURPLEX framework, based on the words Purpose, Plan and Execute, Andrew has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs across the UK focus on strategy, set clear milestones and follow through consistently. He has also supported local communities, mentoring students through enterprise competitions and backing charities such as Somewhere to Go.
Purplex Marketing continues to work with construction and glazing businesses, helping them tackle market pressures and drive growth. Andrew’s story demonstrates that with a clear purpose, practical planning and disciplined execution, even the most challenging circumstances can be overcome and opportunities seized.
