Keylite provides bespoke ridge windows for contemporary self-build

Situated in the peaceful neighbourhood of Gilford, Northern Ireland, this ultramodern self-build is home to Clarke Graham and his family. Overlooking stunning views of the River Bann and the surrounding rural landscape, the property features six Keylite roof windows that elegantly frame the picturesque Irish countryside.

The property owner, Clarke Graham, set out to create the perfect family home with this extensive 2,600 square foot farmhouse-style build, completed with a sleek aluminium finish to achieve a modern, contemporary appearance.

With high ceilings and oak beams, Clarke wanted the peak of the house to become a standout feature. He approached local roof window manufacturer Keylite Roof Windows (Keylite) to design a bespoke Ridge Roof Window System (RG) capable of creating a striking beacon of natural light in the main kitchen and living space.

Keylite supplied six non-opening Fixed Skylights (QFS) to create a striking architectural feature that floods the interior with daylight. Through bespoke flashing and recessing, the windows form a seamless, continuous glazing across the ridge of the roof, creating a bright and airy living area.

The angled glazing system, installed over the apex of the pitched roof, was custom-designed for the Graham home and allowed for complete creative freedom during the architectural process. Ridge Roof Windows are particularly effective at drawing in high levels of light when the sun is directly overhead for much of the day.

By maximising daylight, Ridge Roof Windows create an enhanced sense of space and openness, often giving the impression of a transparent roof, an effect highly sought after in contemporary builds.

Installed as a non-opening roof window, the Ridge Roof Windows offer excellent thermal benefits and come fitted as standard with Keylite’s Integrated Expanding Thermal Collar and Flick-Fit brackets.

Keylite Ridge Roof Windows are suitable for both domestic and commercial builds. They are available for the following ranges: Centre Pivot (CP), Top Hung (TH), Conservation (CW) and White Finish (WF) Roof Windows, all with the option of an Integral Blind (I).

Homeowner Clarke Graham commented: “Throughout the build, we were keen to support local businesses. We’re thrilled to have chosen Keylite roof windows and are absolutely delighted with the Ridge Roof Window System incorporated into our home.”

Cormac Gallagher, Keylite Regional Sales Manager, added: “We were delighted that the Graham family chose Keylite as their preferred roof window supplier. The Ridge Roof Window System perfectly complements the contemporary design and is a fantastic addition to the architecture of the home.”

As Europe’s fastest-growing roof window manufacturer, Keylite offers a comprehensive range of roof windows, blinds, timber loft ladders, flashings, electric operation kits and accessories.
