Birmingham-based manufacturer Shelforce has promoted Tom Shewell and Tom Aston to new Team Leader roles.
Both Toms have progressed from their previous positions as Technical Specialists, reflecting Shelforce’s long-standing commitment to developing talent from within and supporting career progression across the business.
Howard Trotter, Business Manager at Shelforce, said: “I’m absolutely delighted for both Toms. I’ve seen them grow and develop tremendously over the years, and these promotions are thoroughly well deserved. I was really pleased when they applied for the team leader roles because it showed real confidence and commitment to both the business and their colleagues.
“Training our team and promoting from within is incredibly important to us. These roles support our continued growth and ensure we have the right people leading and developing others. The commitment both Toms have shown is exactly what we look for in our future leaders.”
Shelforce employs a 31-strong team, with 75% of employees having a physical or learning disability. The business has enjoyed record levels of skills development, progression and retention, supported by a culture focused on inclusion, teamwork and long-term development.
“It’s all about creating the right environment,” Howard added. “Our core values and culture are crucial for retention. If you invest in people, they will give that investment back. We work as a family, support each other and succeed as a team.”
The company’s people-first approach has also been recognised externally, with Shelforce named as one of eight finalists for the Workplace Champion 2026 award at this year’s Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce Awards.
