Opening the door to complete fire compliance with ERA

Setting the standard for fire safety and security, ERA is helping fabricators to deliver compliant fire doorsets by supplying a portfolio of fire door hardware and decorative furniture that has been independently tested to the latest standards.

Following the release of the Hackitt Report, Building Safety Bill and formation of the new National Construction Products Regulator, ERA has extended its longstanding commitment to third party testing and certification, by independently testing the suite of products to FD30 BS 476, FD30 EN 1634 and FD60 BS 476.

The complementary portfolio includes ERA’s Fortress 3* cylinder, SureFire multi-point lock, door viewer, door chain and numerals, in addition to the Fab&Fix Balmoral door handles, Windsor door handles and Nu Mail letterplate.

This provides fabricators with a comprehensive package of hardware and decorative furniture that delivers unrivalled levels of security, whilst also providing an effective barrier to fire for up to 60 minutes for most timber doors.

Central to the fire door solution is ERA’s Surefire Classic and Heritage multi-point locks, which can be supplied with an intumescent kit, specifically for fabrication with fire doors. PAS 24 accredited, the multi-point lock provides a highly secure solution that automatically fires all locking points when the door is closed. The door is then fully secured by deadlocking the ERA 3* maximum security cylinder.

Stuart Costigan, Product Manager for ERA, said: “As one of the UK’s leading home security and fenestration component providers, we have a responsibility to support our fabricator partners in achieving complete compliance with the latest standards.

“We also have a duty to aid them in taking a proactive approach to fire safety and compliance that sets the standard for a new generation of accountability. This is a commitment we take extremely seriously. We have invested significantly in the independent fire testing of our most popular hardware and furniture to ensure we provide manufacturers with a complete certified offering that is suitable for use with a wide range of fire doors.

“Door manufacturers shouldn’t have to compromise on visual appeal or functionality to ensure compliance, and by extending our range of independently tested solutions, we can assist fabricators in ensuring the highest levels of fire safety performance, not just for today, but for the future.”

Supplied with comprehensive test evidence and documentation, door manufacturers can be confident that when they contact their test body to assess their door substrate, the ERA certified hardware will provide the highest standards of fire performance for the required 30 or 60 minutes.
